Mal Instone Director, Operations & Standards
Malcolm has had a successful career at sea with the British Royal Navy, during which he qualified as a navigator under STCW95. He has successfully navigated several classes of ships and during a well deserved shore appointment spent two challenging years as Head of Navigation at the prestigious Britannia Royal Naval College where he designed, developed and delivered STCW95 compliant navigation courses and simulation exercises.
The culmination of his career was the successful completion of the prestigious Specialist Navigation Course (SPEC N) in 2007, from which he was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Navigation from the University of Plymouth. Mal is a Member of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners and an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute and Royal Institute of Navigation.
