Our course takes the base IMO model course and develops it into a deeper understanding of the systems capabilities and pitfalls, directly relating to recent lessons learnt at sea. For this we require a full five days instruction, at no extra charge.

No, our equipment is fully portable so we can conduct training in a location of your choosing, even onboard if your facilities can support it.

All our trainers are highly experienced in the practical use of ECDIS, Master Mariners or equivalent. Our instructors combined have taught and accredited over 1000 mariners.

We can train on any IMO accredited ECDIS. Any type specific requests should be sent to our Training Manager who will endeavour to deliver a course on the ECDIS you use at sea.

The 5 day course provides generic training in the theory and use of Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), for those who will be in charge of a navigational watch on vessels equipped with ECDIS.

The course is designed for candidates seeking certification as officers in charge of a navigational watch or other persons with navigational responsibilities, such as pilots.

Delegates should have experience in performing chart work and understand the function and limitations of other navigational equipment.

Although lectures form the basis of the teaching, the vast majority of time is spent "hands on" operating the software in a comfortable, non-threatening learning environment. Experienced professional instructors will mentor the delegates throughout to ensure understanding.

There is a written and practical exercise towards the end of the course. Delegate performance and understanding will be continuously assessed throughout the course.

A report on individual performance will be raised for employer feedback if required.

The signed and embossed certificate will be issued on the last day of the course. Duplicates can later be made subject to a small administration charge.

It is clear under the provisions of STCW 95 that ECDIS systems are considered to be included under the term "charts". Therefore, if ECDIS is used as a "chart" the user must demonstrate the same degree of knowledge and competency concerning the use of ECDIS as a user of a conventional chart must demonstrate chart competency. ECDIS training is therefore as mandatory as chart training.

ECDIS Ltd approved training is mobile. You can now have the training delivered onboard your vessel, Headquarters or at a conference suite near your location as opposed to travelling to college or an ECDIS Ltd training centre. This provides the customer with a truly cost effective alternative.
