Digital Ship is excited to be returning to Bergen in 2015. The programme has again been focused to reflect important evolutions in the global shipping market, as well as to provide the region’s owners and managers with a forum to learn more about the products and services that can ensure their companies remain at the forefront of the shipping industry.
The last few years have seen significant advancements in maritime technology. Maritime communications is changing – with the advent, for example, of new satellite designs and capacity leading to HTS. Recent technology developments in IT have opened new horizons for the maritime industry. The industrial Internet concept, connecting machines and using automated data analytics along with domain expertise to optimise operations and maintenance, has already created significant value in many industries, like power generation and commercial aviation, and is now becoming a reality for the maritime industry.
How is the industry adapting to these new technologies and making the most of them? How can shipping companies utilise these developments best to increase operational efficiency and – perhaps most importantly – what do they mean to the crew? Terms like “Big Data” and “Intelligent Operations” make lots of promises in terms of the benefits the industry can expect to derive, but what do they really mean?
Digital Ship Bergen 2015 will evaluate recent developments and trends and look to trigger discussion and debate on how these can make our industry smarter, safer and more sustainable.
