Article: How Your Ship Has Probably Been Cyber Attacked Already
You have been either hacked… or just didn’t know you have been hacked!
I predict that the first catastrophic maritime cyber incident will not be the result of a direct attack on a safety critical specific piece of equipment. It will be the result of an infection on a random PC, perhaps an unassuming email to a crew member, whose PC is either connected to the vessels internal ‘super highway’ or he transmits the infection internally whilst it lies dormant. Crypto locker, or Ransomware software (used by thousands of hackers) are easily available to download on the dark web, neither of which may necessarily attack the equipment they infect, they can lie dormant and infect connected equipment when nobody expects. You have been warned! Watch the video link at the end of this article to see an attack on maritime equipment in real time…

ARTICLE: The Evolving Standard of Simulated Bridge Team Training
By Rob Gale – ECDIS Ltd Instructor
Whitepaper: Type Specific ECDIS – Explained and Uncovered
This report has been produced by a team of pure ECDIS users and instructors who over the years have written many books, publications and articles on ECDIS featuring most of the 38 manufacturers. It has been produced in response to the overwhelming requests from an international client base of over 250 shipping companies that want to understand more about the complex issues relating to the ever developing ECDIS navigation options required on an estimated 50,000+ international trading ships. The core issue of the complexity centres around the perceived varying standards of both the different ECDIS systems, and the associated training standards for the safe and effective transition from paper to ECDIS.
